Helena and Jonathon’s Fremantle wedding was a beautiful celebration of love, family, and life, and took place on the first weekend of spring.
The ceremony
Helena and Jonathon’s ceremony took place in the beautiful settings of Kings Park, surrounded by greenery, in the shade of some huge gumtrees, and with a touch of pastel thanks to the dreamy floral installations by Franc Flora.
Helena and Jonathon’s family played a huge part during their ceremony. Jono comes from a family of musicians so naturally, his parents as well as his sister performed a few songs, and a few other guests did some readings. All the while, Helena’s sister who was unable to attend due to living overseas tuned in via Zoom and didn’t miss a thing. Finally, they both read the Baha’i vows and exchanged rings before signing the paperwork and making their union official.
The portraits
Helena and Jonathon wanted to incorporate a mix of industrial features, heritage buildings and nature throughout their portraits session. With the reception taking place at Assembly Yard, there was no better choice than the town of Fremantle itself. We played with the light, facades, different landscapes and overall crazy diversity that this place has to offer for about an hour before driving to our last stop for the final part of the day.
The reception
The reception took place on the beautiful grounds of Assembly Yard. Our couple timed their entrance perfectly and got to see the last bit of sun setting behind the building before mingling with their nearest and dearest. Although the Freo Doctor certainly cooled the temperatures down, it didn’t temper with the guests’ enthusiasm and the sweet taste of spring (and smell of woodfired pizza) was floating in the air.
The rest of the evening was exactly what one would expect out of a wedding reception: filled with laughter, tears, hugs…and killer dance moves. Helena and Jonathon opened the dancefloor with a first dance on ‘Fever To The Form’ by artist Nick Mulvey before inviting everyone else to join them.
