Golden Field Romance in the Perth Hills
Golden Field Romance is a styled shoot inspired by the revival of nature during spring. So what better backdrop for this than a field of tall grass turning gold as the last rays of sunshine hit them?
When I first started photography at around 15 years old, I used to take photos of my friends at sunset in the open field opposite my house in my hometown in Provence. I loved it so much, but then I moved cities, and then countries, and kind of stopped doing portrait photography altogether.

After this shoot, I felt like I had come full circle. More than ten years later, I got to experience the joy of watching the tall grass turn gold and playing with a light that kept me on my toes again. There’s nothing like watching your vision come to life thanks to a bunch of amazing creatives, and creating just for the sake of it.

An ode to the modern and minimalistic bride
A gorgeous model, two sleek dresses, a flamboyant bouquet, two pairs of statement earrings, natural hair and makeup, and a golden field at the last hours of the day. Nothing else was involved in the making of this shoot.
Although I do love some grand styling schemes and elaborate setups, I also believe that when picking the perfect elements, you don’t need many of them.
Because all good things come in three, the three main elements were the outfit(s), the flowers, and the earrings. I chose to use two sleek minimalistic dresses from Prea James, two pairs of earrings from Kezani, and my friend Nat from Fleur Societe whipped together the most beautiful and vibrant bouquet.

The magic of golden hour + sunset-inspired florals
Catching the last rays of sunshine and watching the sky and nature around me turn gold never fails to make me all giddy. There’s nothing like getting to play that kind of light – the kind that keeps you on your toes because it changes and moves. The kind that is so beautiful because it is so ephemeral.
Back in October when this shoot took place, spring was in full swing and the days were gradually getting longer and warmer. The bouquet put together by Natalia from Fleur Societe reminded me of exactly that. A few bursts of colors, blooming peonies, sunset-like orchids, and a sprinkle of country flowers. Watching the colors of this bouquet change whilst different lights hit it from different angles was just as magical as watching the sun set.
