Anna and Joe’s New Norcia wedding – country meets fairytale setup

Anna and Joe’s New Norcia wedding was nothing short of magical. From the dreamiest golden hour light, to the abundance of fairy lights decorating the marquee, and a beautiful glamping setup. Both of the latter were perched on top of a rolling hill offering stunning views of Anna’s parents’ farm where the wedding reception took place.

The ceremony

The ceremony took place at the stunning Abbey Church in the regional WA town of New Norcia. Walking around the town and standing in that almost 200-year-old church felt like we were transported to a different time and place. Anna and Joe made their union official surrounded by a large crowd of their loved ones, not without a few happy tears!

The portraits

Following the ceremony, we headed back to Anna’s parent’s property where the day had first started with bride prep. Anna and Joe now live in Denmark and one of their favorite way to spend their free time is to go 4W-driving around the beautiful South West to spend time surrounded by nature. So naturally, we jumped on said 4WD and drove through the hundreds of hectares. We eventually got to a beautiful hill and golden field where we stopped to take photos.
The bridal party was one of a kind and went with everything I threw at them. Rain was on the forecast so the sky and light kept changing. We were even graced by the most rainbow, which was a moment we obviously had to immortalize.
We sent the bridal party back to what they do best (party!) whilst Anne, Joe, I stayed and made the most of the stunning golden hour light. They walked, swayed, and took a moment to let it all seek in amongst the tall grass before driving back to their reception setup in the midst of blue hour.

The reception

The most joyous moment of the day took place at the start of the evening when Anna and Joe arrived in a vintage car. They were welcomed by their guests and a heap of colorful confetti floating around them. Espresso martinis, fairytale-like setups, and a choreographed first dance were just a few of the things that made the reception so special.
Our couple even had a little display of family wedding photos from generations who had tied the knot before them.
I have no doubt the dancefloor kept going for hours after I left. That’s the perks of throwing a huge lovefest in the middle of a farm in regional WA, no curfew or grumpy neighbors! Plus, most of the guests only had to walk out of the marquee and straight into their glamping tent before passing out in bed, and no doubt wake up with the most magical sunrise the next day.
